Prison Greyhounds

Founded in 2009, and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Prison Greyhounds is an all-volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization. Partnering with Putnamville Correctional Facility in Greencastle, Indiana, Prison Greyhounds’ mission is two-fold. Preparing retired racing Greyhounds for their forever home by providing much needed training for life after racing while giving their inmate handlers an opportunity to gain job-skills, teamwork experience, and explore a better way of life through the human-animal bond. The partnership is free to the prison and only specially selected, non-violent inmates are eligible to be handlers.
