Forecasting involves predicting the future. It is not an exact science. In the manufacturing industry, with fluctuating customer demands being part of the territory, the task of forecasting can be especially challenging. But with the right controls in place, and with the help of a robust manufacturing software solution, companies can maximize the effectiveness of their forecasting efforts.
Most manufacturing outfits use some type of software solution to integrate aspects of their operations. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) and job shop software have in many ways revolutionized the manufacturing industry, streamlining the information sharing process between sections and facilitating a higher degree of overall efficiency.
Shoptech Software would like to announce it has attained the QuickBooks Gold Developer Certification with the Intuit Marketplace for the E2 Shop System. The certification process consists of a range of tests, case studies and a customer satisfaction survey performed by a third party.
Before E2, Axxis Corporation’s biggest problem was in purchasing. They were having trouble buying the tools they needed and as a result had delivery problems and some unhappy customers. They needed new internal systems and a way to collect job cost data to help quoting accuracy. E2 provided total shop-floor control and improved quoting accuracy which led to increased productivity.

The E2 Shop System is designed with one thing in mind - to give you optimal control of your shop. We help shops of all kinds and sizes work smarter for improved efficiencies, greater flexibility and, of course, bigger profits. E2 delivers what you need to improve how, when and where you use critical business information.
As Avenger grew in size they saw the need for more information than QuickBooks could give. They wanted hard production information. After a now former employee recommended a competitor of E2, almost immediately Avenger realized they had made a mistake. “The simplest reports seemed to always be “custom” and would require a hefty charge, nothing was easy, nothing was quick”, said Pat Kavanagh-Morris, manager at Avenger Tool. After repeated attempts to try and make it work, they soon began using Excel sheets to get production information. After Avenger failed to re-new the yearly maintenance, they were refused customer service or getting an answer for a simple question. Avenger finally had enough, even though another package was not in the budget they could no longer take what they had. After reviewing several packages they always found themselves coming back to E2.
Like many business owners, Dan Valley realized that his business had outgrown the DOS-based software program he was running in his shop. He wanted a program that was more current, and easier to use, yet provided more information than his old system. After evaluating several systems, Dan chose E2 – it offered the most comprehensive package, generated the most information, and was user-friendlier than anything else he looked at.
For Owner Rick Watson and Controller Sandy Reed at Beverlin Manufacturing, modernization was a must. Working with hand written time tickets and an old DOS-based shop management system, they clearly were not getting the efficiency they needed to run the shop profitably. When shopping for new shop software, Rick and Sandy looked for a Windows-based package that was comprehensive, yet easy to use. They evaluated a number of systems before deciding that Shoptech’s E2 Shop System was the right package for Beverlin.
Walter Machine purchased the E2 system between 1999 and 2000 at a Houstex show. They compared the E2 system to another competitor and decided, “The competitor seemed interested in selling us modules instead of software that solved our problems,” says Jeff Walter, Production Manager of Walter Machine Company. “The extras on E2, such as the “type it once” to use or “populate” the information, were just a few of the features that won them over!”
