Nashville MTA chooses Doron’s 460Bus™ Interactive Driving Simulator for operator training

Doron Precision Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce the delivery of an interactive 460Bus™ driving simulator to Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority, Tennessee.

The 460Bus is an interactive system with an extensive field of view, which results in a driving environment equivalent to behind-the-wheel driving and includes a professionally developed curriculum with a library of scenarios. A semi-interactive 3-Unit 400Bus™ system, also from Doron, will be utilized in conjunction with the 460Bus simulator. The 400Bus system features a driving cab and dash to simulate a typical transit bus and is developed for classroom training environments with a high trainee to instructor ratio. The combination of these systems meets MTA’s goal of setting new standards for operator training.

“We are extremely pleased to begin using simulation technology in our operator training program and believe that Doron’s system will be a good fit for MTA’s needs well into the future” said Loren Wyatt, MTA training manager.

The Nashville MTA’s fleet of 132 fixed route buses and 49 paratransit vans operates more than 6.7 million trips annually in Nashville in Davidson County and surrounding areas including Hendersonville and Murfreesboro in conjunction with the Regional Transportation Authority.

The Nashville MTA plans to implement a comprehensive driver training program for it’s over 50 operators with Specific Training Objectives (STOs) based on the combination of the 460Bus (single unit, interactive) simulator and the 400Bus (three-unit, semi-interactive). The program is designed to enhance driving skills and improve traffic safety while increasing the training program’s efficiency.

“We are pleased that the Nashville MTA has selected Doron’s driving simulation systems,” noted Donald Wenzinger “Nashville MTA joins more than a dozen other transit agencies using Doron’s Systems to reduce training costs and accidents. Many organizations have reduced accidents by 20% or more”
