5 Things to Expect from the iPhone 5

Hartford, CT -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/13/2012 -- The rumor market is abuzz with all sorts of rumors about the impending iPhone 5 launch. What are the features that are going to introduced? How will the phone gain ground over the competition that seems to be catching up fast?

Everyone has their version of the story. There have been some iPhone 5 model leaks, too, which appear genuine. The leaked iPhone 5 seems to be unibody, while much of the actual design stays the same as the previous generation iPhone 4. It’s certainly thinner and has a bigger screen.

What should you expect from the phone? Here is a list of all those things that are a near certainty when the phone launches:

Bigger screen: The new iPhone 5 is going to feature a bigger screen, at 4’’ measured diagonally. Other phones already have much bigger screens and though I don’t really see a point in a phone bigger than 4’’, some believe that bigger screens are genuinely useful.

A bigger screen will certainly enhance your experience of browsing, e-mail and gaming. It should have little impact on the rest. Oh, and it will also mean more pixels.

More powerful hardware: The A5 chip in iPhone 4S is really, really fast. The phone is all set to get even more powerful hardware though. Increased RAM, faster processor... all the bells and whistles.

What will this mean? You get to play your games without any lag, even the heaviest of them; switch between apps faster and do just about everything else faster.

Siri 2.0: Okay, now we are treading in the land of wishes, but still. Siri was the major feature of iPhone 4S—in fact, apart from the camera and a bit of hardware changes, that was the only talking point—and it won’t be surprising if they push the boundaries with Siri.

There has already been an announcement regarding a better Siri with iOS 6. They may take it even further with the iPhone 5, who knows?

New dock: The leaked models show that there is a new, 19 pin dock as well. This isn’t a major change, of course, but still, it’s almost a certainty. This will render the previous dock connectors obsolete and that is a drawback, if I have to nitpick.

iOS 6: This one seems obvious but the iPhone 5 might ship with iOS 6. It is anyways going to launch this fall and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the new phone comes with it out of the box.

Previous Apple launches have set records, selling millions of phones. Will this continue with the iPhone 5 Most likely so. For the rest, we will just have to wait and watch.
