Shares of Office Depot Inc. rallied nearly 24% and those of OfficeMax jumped up 30% following The Wall Street Journal announced on Monday that the two office-supply retailers are in rallying on merger rumors. Staples (SPLS) shares also pumped up and were trading at 13% on the Journal’s news.
The deal is predicted to be stock-for-stock, however accurate terms could not be collected, counting what percentage of merged group stockholders of each firm would possess. The deal was not announced yet, and talks could still end anytime.
