Roubaix, France -- (SBWire) -- 10/17/2011 --Travelling to Paris always brings a burden of must-dos: climb the Eiffel Tower, go on a Seine cruise, visit the Louvre museum etc. But since a few years, foreign travellers are less interested in learning about Paris history, fashion or arts than by Paris strong food culture.
The private gourmet tour company Tours For Foodies was launched in December 2010 by 2 business partners Alexandre BESOMBES and Carine BEAUVISAGE after they found that the appetite of travellers for these tours was booming. "From mid-2010, we have seen the number of gourmet tours skyrocketing: chocolate tours, cheese tours, gourmet tours, bread-baking tours etc and so we have decided to launch a company to address this need".
In 9 months of activities, Tours For Foodies has arranged hundreds of private gourmet tours for its international clients, mostly from the US and Canada.
"Our best sellers are the chocolate tour and the bread-baking class - American tourists are very interested in learning how to bake French croissants and traditional French baguettes, especially with a genuine baker in a true bakery. But we have also seen an increasing appetite for the 2-hour cheesetasting sessions. Our cheese expert is able to show them the best cheeses in France, explain how they are produced, what their specificities are etc. On top of that, he will give them some tips about the French "Art de Vivre". They learn how to slice properly French cheeses, how to preserve them in a fridge etc. And they taste around a dozen of different cheeses - goat cheese, blue cheese etc - in those 2 hours as well".
