PETA gives the starlet at rescued calf
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/16/2012 -- Though the coupled had denied plans of marriage earlier in the year, Actress Anne Hathaway tied the knot to actor and jewelry designer Adam Shulman over the weekend.
Over 150 guests attended the wedding, which was steeped in nature. The event took place on Big Cur along the California coast. More than $100,000 in flowers were utilized for the celebration according to a source. The wedding was a traditional Jewish ceremony.
I am very much in love with him; [only] Adam totally ruined my plan,” Hathaway told People earlier in the year. "I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!"
The reception menu included an all-vegan spread, similar to the menu utilized at Hathaway’s engagement party. Veggie burgers, cupcakes, truffle macaroni and cheese were just some of the items on the menu.
Yifat Oren helped in creating the unforgettable weekend for Hathaway and Shulman. Oren was used for Natalie Portman’s wedding. Stefanie Cover, event professional, also helped to make sure the weekend went off without a hitch.
Hathaway received a gift of a sponsored calf from PETA. The calf was named Peter, and was rescued from ““a filthy and abusive Pennsylvania dairy factory farm” but now is “thriving” at The Cow Sanctuary in New Jersey.
"By going vegan, Anne is doing the best thing that she can to better her health and save calves like Peter from a life of suffering. Anne is living proof that vegans are beautiful from the inside out," said Tracy Reiman, PETA executive vice president.
Hathaway’s vegan kick was noted on the Batman set as she went vegan to prepare for the role of Catwoman. “The suit, thoughts of my suit, changing my life so I would fit into that suit…. I didn’t understand how you could be thin and strong.”
Given her strong performance, most will ignore the fact that cats are carnivores.
