Extension to iPhone and cheap smartphone on the way
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/08/2013 -- In a recent report by Apple Insider, there are claims that the Apple company is currently working on two different iPhone models simultaneously. One of the new models will be an official successor to the iPhone 5, while a 4.5-inch screen. The second model will be a cheaper model of a smartphone, which possess a sporty-looking polycarbonate body.
The report noted that the next iPhone will likely be launched officially within 2014. The cheaper alternative is noted to hit the stores sooner. However, MacRumours has reported, via a Taiwan Commercial Times, that the Barclays analyst Kirk Yang, Apple is certainly working toward both products to be launched within August or September of this year.
Yang believes that both the iPhone 5 succession and the cheap-smart will have two models each, with the second being created specifically for the China Mobile.
MacRumours also noted that: "The report claims that Apple is still weighing production volume for the new phones, working to estimate how much the lower-cost iPhone will cut into iPhone 5S sales and still gauging appropriate volumes for an expansion to China Mobile. Regardless, Apple does expect total iPhone shipments to be higher than last year's levels."
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, issued a statement earlier in the year. He is known for his general accuracy in regards to Apple products. He noted that Apple may start the launch of a majority of products within the third quarter. Yang's report conflicts with reports from Macrotakara's prediction, though it seems to fit Ming's findings.
Meanwhile, Kuo mentioned that next-gen iPhone's will be the iPhone 5S, and will be identical to the iPhone 5 with faster chip capability, fingerprint sensor, smart LED flash, and an enhanced camera.
