Apple to Unveil the Next iPhone Model on September 7

Apple confirmed Monday that it will have a media event on Sept. 7, at which it is expected to introduce a new iPhone and probably a new version of Apple Watch.

Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/30/2016 -- Apple Inc., the world's second largest smartphone manufacturer, is expected to announce the next iPhone model and probably a new version of Apple Watch at its September 7 event in San Francisco. The company just sent out invites for a press conference on Wednesday, September 7. The event will take place on September 7 at 1pm ET/10am PT.

This will be the fifth year straight that Apple holds an early September event to announce new products. As usual, the biggest surprise of those should be the next iPhone model. Many leaks show that the new iPhone model, most likely called iPhone 7, will feature more or less the same design as the iPhone 6s. It will have a set of rear cameras that will help it take far better photos than Apple's current crop of phones. Photography has been a focus of Apple's iPhone marketing in recent years, so the push seems like a logical next step.

It's also expected that the next iPhone will have no headphone jack and be completely waterproof, and there may potentially be a new pair of wireless headphones to go with the phone, or at least a pair of headphones that just plug directly into the phone's Lightning charging port.

As the hottest topic in 2016 autumn in smartphone market, the release of new iPhone model certainly will attract a lot of Apple fans to switch from their old iPhone to the new iPhone 7. And people can take advantage of iTunes or iPhone transfer tool to transfer data from old iPhone to new iPhone.

As for the second generation of Apple Watch, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has an excellent track record predicting new Apple products, says the new model will look very similar to the current one, but will have improvements in battery life and new sensors like a barometer and GPS. Kuo said to expect the new Apple Watch this fall, but wasn't clear on whether it would be unveiled at the same time as the iPhone 7 or later in the year.

There's one other major product in Apple's pipeline: a redesigned MacBook Pro laptop. But Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that the new MacBook Pro will be announced separately from the iPhone 7.
