Beijing Prohibits Skipping Unlucky Numbers from Address Reports NumerologyCalculator.org

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2012 -- The superstitious beliefs of the Chinese people towards their numerology and their obsession of shunning unlucky numbers finally ran into trouble as the government vowed to ban avoiding using numbers which have such meaning.

The capital of China, Beijing, has announced to forbid the selective avoidance of numbers which are considered unlucky according to their beliefs. The move from government came on the back of an increasing trend of people who avoid using numbers like 4, 13 and 14 from their phone numbers, car and house number plates.

The obsession of avoiding these numbers is so intense amongst some group of people that they are willing to pay extra money to register their car and house plates with the numbers that have positive meaning, according to Chinese Numerology. Number 8 is the most popular number and people want to register it because it sounds similar to making or earning a good fortune. Whereas, number 4 is considered as the most unlucky number according to the numerology as it sounds similar to death.

A representative of the municipal administration of Beijing, Zhou Qiaolin, confirmed the reports of prohibiting such avoiding of unlucky numbers and released an official statement in this regards. The government is of the view that the superstitious belief has nothing to do with the reality and it only disturbs the system.

“The numbers of storied buildings, units and door plates should be coded and registered in numerical order and no skipping or selective use of numbers should be allowed.” Zhou Qiaolin said, according to firstpost.com.
