Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/29/2013 -- BioSphere biodegradable plastic additive increases the ability of PET (as well as most major polymer) products to biodegrade in landfill environments when the additive is incorporated using a 1% load rate during the manufacturing process. The testing is being conducted for BioSphere Plastic by third-party testing lab Eden Research Laboratories of Albuquerque, NM. Thomas Poth of Eden Research has stated "These PET test results are very good." Furthermore, the PET test results show continued biodegradation of the tested PET product could fully biodegrade in as little as 7 months. This test being performed according to ASTM D5511-12 testing shows a 15.8% biodegradation with both gasses and biomass calculated in the first 27 days.

President Rob Huegli states "These results are game changing. By simply adding a small percentage of our additive to PET resin during the manufacturing process we can assist in producing a product that is on track to biodegrade in less than a year." BioSphere's revolutionary PET test results are 5 times faster than any other competitive additive technology in the market. In addition to being ahead of the technology curve, BioSphere markets their additive at a price point that is affordable to the masses. Mr. Huegli goes on to explain "With these test results, our additive is now proving yet again to be on the forefront of technology breakthroughs, enabling consumers and manufacturers to have a small increase in manufacture costs, in exchange for substantial environmental benefits."

BioSphere biodegradable plastic additive is sold worldwide and utilized in many countries to increase the biodegradability of plastic products. BioSphere additive is used in a multitude of applications such as carry-out bags, deli trays, dog waste bags, bottles and various other consumer and disposal goods. BioSphere Plastic LLC was formed in 2012 creating an affordable solution to the world-wide plastic waste epidemic. They provide solutions for the manufacturer and consumers by enabling them to produce products that do not add to the problem, ultimately reducing plastic waste and assisting in the creation of products that satisfy the non-biodegradable plastic bag bans that are spreading across the globe today.
