New Orleans, LA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/19/2014 -- The Church Folk Revolution (www.PimpPreacher.com) has just issued a statement protesting the announcement that Gospel Today Magazine and the Gospel Heritage foundation will honor Bishop Eddie Long with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The announcement of the Lifetime Achievement Award comes only weeks after Bishop Eddie Long's New Birth Missionary Church settled a lawsuit from members of the congregation who lost money in the Ephren Taylor Ponzi Scheme (as reported by ABC News).
Church Folk Revolution issued the following statement.
"We are very disappointed that Dr. Teresa Hairston has decided to bestow a lifetime achievement award on a Bishop the likes of Eddie Long. It has been only two years since Bishop Eddie Long settled a Sexual Coercion lawsuit, and this most recent settlement involving Ponzi Scheme Recruiter Ephren Taylor is proof that Bishop Eddie Long is not fit for such an award. We are demanding that Bishop Eddie Long name is removed from consideration, and that The Gospel Heritage Foundation engage in due diligence that would produce a more worthy recipient for the award."
