New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/21/2013 -- Author Diane Walters has written a book detailing her struggles to breastfeed her children and what she has learned to help new mothers increase their own milk supply. In her e-book, Walters gives new moms the tools and information they need to breastfeed their new baby for as long as they want.
According to Walters, many new mothers are plagued by guilt over not producing enough milk to feed their baby. They also face a difficult choice – try to produce more milk or supplement with formula. All a new mom really hopes for is for their baby to find a place of nourishment and comfort from them, not frustration and pain. There is nothing worse than devastation of not being able to breastfeed exclusively due to inadequacy.
In her e-book, Walters talks about her battle against low milk supply and how this led her to research ways to increase her breast milk for her baby. With the information Walters learned, she was able to increase her milk supply and strictly breastfeed her baby for over two years.
“I was distraught when I knew I could not fulfill my baby’s need for nourishment …and I experienced the heartbreak of chronic low milk supply and had to supplement my babies using those formula milk,” explains Walters in her book. “For weeks I was already trying to nurse my firstborn on demand for an hour or more at a time, with 30-60 minutes between every feed. Day and night.”
She goes on to discuss how she watched her baby grow skinnier and skinner, as her frustration mounted against her low milk supply. After turning to lactation specialists and spending hundreds of dollars with little to no success, Walters decided to take matters into her own hands and research a solution to her situation.
“I began to devote my hours of research, studies, experimentation and testing to develop 100 percent guaranteed-to-work techniques without drugs, without medical treatments and with no side effects, so that I could keep my body pumping out milk, increase milk supply and meeting my baby’s nutritional or emotional needs by breastfeeding,” stated Walters.
In the course of her research, Walters have consulted even more lactation experts, doctors, midwives, authors and attended many courses on feeding naturally. Along the way, she also discovered a few techniques to help with milk supply, which are also easily adaptable and yet so effective.
“In the end, I’ve pumped till my baby was over 17 months old and I’ve pumped for a total of 1500 of hours, with more than 15 thousand ounces which is about 120 gallons,” Walters said.
