Local Mall To Install Solar Panels
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/04/2012 -- Just as solar panels are the newest architectural trend in Bridgewater, the Bridgewater Commons Mall has reflected this change by starting to put up solar panels. The process will be a slow and gradual one; however, as the mall officials are beginning with the top floor of the parking lot for now and installing new panels there.
The panels are thought to be a good idea for any building, as they add no glare in any the buildings. It also will not hurt parking in the mall, as the panels absorb light instead of reflecting it. Thus, glare and reflecting annoyance will not be a problem for nearby buildings.
Councilman Fillipe Pedroso firmly believes that this project is beneficial to the town because “It is environmentally sound, and less fossil fuels are being burned.”
The township council agreed to sign an agreement with Safari Energy, a company that sets up and builds solar panels.
Robert Bogart, a township engineer stated, “This is for work at the mall, and it consists of building structures similar to the ones at the high school on the parking deck of the mall,”
While construction is set to start during the holidays, Bogart claims that authorities have everything necessary to start construction. He says, “They already got all the permits, they also have permits for structures on the roof of the mall, the flat ones.”
The mall is just one of the few projects in Bridgetown to install solar panel canopies. Other projects include the Bridgewater-Raritan High School, the Bridgetown YMCA, and the senior center of Bridgetown.
