Welfare communities declared the show a disturbing trend for infants
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2012 -- A British beauty procession in a local hotel at the Miss Glitz Sparkle Pageant has come under fire by various welfare campaigners. The infants displayed their colorful outfits including bikinis, hair extensions and fake tans at the pageant, which made critics unhappy.
Children belonging to various age groups marched before their parents and guests and received good acknowledgement from the audiences. The show included some other rounds in which the children dressed like Hollywood stars that became disputed for some circles. At the same time, the organizers declared the show ‘successful’ and stated that it was great entertainment for guests and parents. Furthermore, the organizers said that it was a unique show of its nature and will prove to be a trend setter in the UK.
Meanwhile, different charities criticized the event and called it a source of spreading sexualization among young girls. Claude Knights, the director of kidscape, declared the show unethical and a disturbing trend.
He also added that such shows will increase the negative trend among the young generation and will have them believing that beauty is everything. He supported his views by saying “it is a disturbing trend, these children seem to be getting younger and younger.”
"It's impossible for these kids to be giving their consent to wearing swim-wear and pseudo-evening dresses as well as fake eyelashes and spray tans.” said Knights. “The over-sexualization of these young girls really is a worrying.”
He concluded his conversation by saying, "It can give these young girls the impression that it is only external beauty that is important in life and no balance is given to the internal and their other skills.”
Meanwhile, certain members of the audience appreciated the show while others criticized. Beauty pageants are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, which is drawing just as much criticism as it is praise.
