Bucks County FOP Lodge #40, Lodge #53, Endorse Weintraub for District Attorney

 

Bucks County, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/19/2017 -- Matt Weintraub, District Attorney has received the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police – Bucks Co. Lodge #53 and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40.

Weintraub stated, "During my 25 years as a prosecutor serving as Chief of Bucks County's Narcotics Unit and Chief of Prosecution, I have worked together with law enforcement's brothers and sisters across Bucks County. The Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police represents nearly 40,000 law enforcement members from across the Commonwealth. FOP Lodge #53 represents municipal police officers of Bucks County and Lodge #40, Pennsylvania State Troopers.

Bucks Co. FOP Lodge #53 highlighted Weintraub's leadership on addressing the region's opioid epidemic and fighting for the resources to protect our community. Dan Doyle, FOP Lodge #53 Past President, commended Weintraub for his persistence on attacking the drug crisis impacting Bucks County and introducing various measures to support law enforcement. "Matt has pulled together resources to form a Six Detective Strike Force solely dedicated to tackling the heroin/opioid epidemic. In addition to the creation of the Six Detective Strike Force which targets opioid dealers and trafficking rings, District Attorney Matt Weintraub, he has co-lead the Push Out the Pusher campaign alongside PA State Representative, John Galloway. Weintraub continues to champion the highly successful, county-wide, Prescription Drug Take Back program.

Weintraub is particularly passionate about protecting our youth, especially our youngest and most vulnerable. "Ben's Campaign- Lock it up" was born out of a senseless and preventable tragedy which took the life of a 2-year-old Bucks County resident. The Campaign seeks to provide all county gun owners with free gunlocks and distribute gun-safety information for adults and children along with the gun locks.

District Attorney Matthew Weintraub was raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and has nearly 25 years experience as a prosecutor. On Sept. 21, 2016, he was appointed by the Bucks County Board of Judges to succeed former District Attorney David W. Heckler. Throughout his career, he has tried more than 100 criminal cases before judges and juries. He has served as Chief of Bucks County's Homicide by Vehicle and Drug Units and as a Trial Team Coordinator in Bucks County.
