Chino, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/01/2013 -- CashAdvance.com, the leader in connecting consumers with responsible short-term loans online, announced this week that they will be acting as a sponsor for the FOCUS Film Festival in Chino, CA.
The FOCUS Film Fest is an event that explores documentary and narrative films that celebrate diversity and inclusion, as stated on their website. The 2013 Film Fest will be the 9th event of its kind and will take place on October 3rd-5th, 2013.
The vision behind FOCUS is a community that embraces diversity, not as a difference, but as a blend of varied and valuable contributions. It is a project of the Far Northern Regional Center, which is a non-profit organization that provides services and support to people with developmental disabilities and their families. The Film Fest is funded fully through grants and community donations.
The 2013 Festival will begin with an Opening Night event on Thursday, October 3rd. Everything kicks off that night with a screening of “Dancing Salmon House,” which brings to life the creation story of the Winnemem Wintu people and will be accompanied by traditional music and blessing provided by the Mechoopda Maidu. It continues the next day with a full schedule of short and full-length films, from “That’s Me Too!”, the story of six locals who share their thoughts about the significant relationships in their lives; “Mundo Pequeno”, a 90-minute film about a disabled 20-year-old who journeys from Spain to New Zealand, never letting his mobility chair hold him back; “Norm”, the story of a woman who vows to keep her aging brother at home despite his symptoms of Alzheimer’s; and many more.
The Festival concludes after another full day of films on October 5th. The day begins at 9:30am with a showing of “High Ground”, which follows eleven veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who join an expedition to climb Mount Lobuche. The Fest ends at 8:30pm with a special screening of “For Spacious Sky”, the inspiring story of three lost brothers finding their way back to each other.
A spokesperson for CashAdvance.com explained that they were excited to be sponsoring the event, saying, “Cash Advance is proud to play a part in making the FOCUS Film Festival possible. We’re so excited to be part of an event that brings together so many talented artists to share their work on topics that are relevant and important to our society.”
