Santa Barbara, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/25/2013 -- CashAdvance.com announced this week that they would be acting as a sponsor for United Way in Santa Barbara’s “Day of Caring” event, which will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2013. They will be joining sponsors such as Page Youth Center, Albertsons, and more in helping United Way’s Santa Barbara division put on their event to support local nonprofits.
Santa Barbara’s Day of Caring will be the 22nd annual event of its kind. It will begin with a free kick-off breakfast, then teams of volunteers from across the country will get to work to complete much-needed tasks like painting, landscaping, gardening, sorting goods and general repairs.
Divisions of United Way across the country are known for their Day of Caring events, such as in King County, Washington, where in 2012 they mobilized 12,122 volunteers for 59,737 total hours of labor to complete projects for the community. These volunteers represented 138 different companies and organizations, most notably Microsoft who has been participating in the event for over 30 years, and completed 448 different projects – all in just one day!
Sara, a volunteer for Day of Caring in Eugene, had this to say about the organization: “The idea behind Days of Caring is to unite a community to work on projects that non-profit organizations need accomplished, but don’t have the resources to complete them on their own. Without the help of volunteers, many of these vital projects would not get done – but, on this one day, through thousands of volunteer hours (and hard work), great things got accomplished!”
A spokesperson for Cash Advance said that the company was thrilled to be part of the event. “It’s an honor for Cash Advance to be able to support United Way’s Day of Caring. These people really make things happen in their communities – they’re well organized, they use their resources well, and they make a noticeable difference in their local areas. The projects they take on mean a lot to people, and these are things that would probably never get finished without the help of their volunteers. We are thrilled to announce our sponsorship of the United Way in Santa Barbara, and are proud to play a role in making the 22nd Annual Day of Caring a reality.”
