LaCrosse, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2013 -- This week, CashAdvance.com, a website that connects customers with a variety of options for short-term loans, announced that they would be acting as a sponsor for the upcoming WAEE (Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education) annual conference.
The WAEE describes itself as a non-profit organization of environmental educators, supporting environmental education through advocacy, networking, and recognition. They state their goal as “to promote responsible environmental action through education in the classroom and in the community.” Their specific goals in regards to environmental education is to develop a citizenry that is well-informed about natural and human-made environments and the issues associated with them, one that is able and skilled at resolving those issues, and motivated to participate in improving the environment and our overall quality of life.
WAEE’s annual conference will be held on August 7th – 9th at UW-LaCrosse and Myrick Hixon EcoPark. It welcomes both members and non-members and provides an opportunity for educators, administrators, students, and anyone else interested in environmental education to come together to network, learn, and share with each other. Each year the conference focuses on a different theme relevant to environmental education and is held at various locations across Wisconsin. The 2013 conference will include concurrent sessions, workshops, field trips, speakers, exhibits, and entertainment, and boasts that it will offer “something for everyone.” WAEE conference organizers hope that their attendees will leave “filled with enthusiasm and inspiration.”
With the conference taking place this year in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, one of the most beautiful natural areas of the state, WAEE will be teaming up with local schools, nature centers, and businesses to make the conference a more rich and exciting experience. The keynote speakers will be Jordan Howard, a 21-year-old thought leader on sustainability, environmental education, and youth empowerment; Mary Haller, the Vice President of Logistics and Supply Chain at Goodwill North Central Wisconsin; and Jerry Apps, a rural historian and environmental writer whose talk will be on “nature stories.”
Highlights of the 3-day conference will be a dinner on the LaCrosse Queen Riverboat, a Goodwill fashion show, workshops, field trips, and more.
