Hood River, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/25/2012 -- The killings that took place and killed many people due to a shooting at a movie theater by a student is said to be the result of failing in a key exam six weeks ago, according to the prosecutor. The prosecutor further explained that before the rampage, the student made threats and was banned from the college.

Jacque Montgomery, a spokeswoman of University of Colorado Denver, said that James Holmes was banned from the campus and after a through criminal background check was done on him before the attack took place on 20th July.

She also said that she had been prevented to tell anyone or anything about the check like, who conducted the check, who made a request for it and who saw the results.

Montgomery also said that the Police Chief of the campus, Dough Abraham, after referring the background check of Holmes said on 23rd July that the Holmes had a minor problem on his record and rest of it was clean.

Karen Pearson, who is Chief Deputy District Attorney, informed the judge that Holmes had been stocking armor, ammunition and explosive material at his apartment and also at the university. She also argued that by gaining access to all his previous university records, it will help a lot in order to understand what actually his main aim was and what actually he wanted to accomplish at CU.

The prosecutors are seeking for Holmes records these days as they think that all the records like university application, his grades, course schedules, emails of Holmes and anything that is related to his reasons of termination will be extremely relevant with this case.

According to a report previously, when a gag order was issued, the university said that the campus police had no records on Holmes. Whereas some of the officials at the University also said that, after Holmes was banned, he had no access to the university buildings and also because his student card was also shut down after his June 10th withdrawal. They also mentioned that this action was not because of the threat or any other safety reasons but the main reason was his withdrawal.
