Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/26/2013 -- Cereplast Inc (PINK:CERP) announced that Algaeplast Inc will channelize its algae activity from now on. Algaeplast Inc is the new wholly owned subsidiary of the company opened to focus on algae related research and bio plastics.

Cereplast Inc presented the idea of bio plastic made up of 50% algae content. New subsidiary’s target is to produce polymers with 100% algae content. The management is optimistic about the new development and the CEO and Chairman Frederic Scheer says that with current developments in the algae-to-oil process, the target can be achieved with in 5 year time.

Cereplast Inc (Cereplast) is resin development and commercializing company. Cereplast has two product groups. First is Cereplast Compostable Resins that are compostable and renewable alternatives for petroleum-based plastics. Second is Cereplast Sustainables resins that substitutes 90% of the petroleum-based content of traditional plastics.
