Playa del Camen, Quintana Roo -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/08/2013 -- Playa del Carmen is a top rated global location for sports from beach volleyball, snorkeling, scuba, golf, tri-athletes, yoga retreats and crossfit enthusiast. This TripAdvisor Top 10 city for “Family Vacation”, “Beach & Sun” and other categories attracts an active crowd. Playa may be rated in the Top 10 “Safest Cities in Mexico” but the desire to play hard comes with high sports injuries. Playa is also home or a preferred location for international athletes that come to rest, recover or train between seasons. This cliental has brought with it some of the best medical talent from Latin America, Canada and the USA to include Playa del Carmen chiropractor Dr. Joseph Will.
Dr Joseph Michael Will first studied to be an educator and graduated from Oswego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education in 1993 and, after a brief stint in the public school system, soon transferred his creative educational techniques to the sports and health care arena. He graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1997 and promptly moved south to learn a bit of Spanish and expand his horizons. After 2 years working in his chiropractic office in San Jose, Costa Rica and exploring extensively the countries windsurf, surf and rafting potential, he moved to the Caribbean coast of Mexico and look at Playa del Carmen real estate and has continued in private practice in Playa for the past 13 years.
Joseph says a lot of the expatriate clients he sees from the USA and Canada with chronic pain are being mis-diagnosed in their countries by doctors over 50% when X-rays and MRIs detect nothing. Unfortunately, many non-invasive scanning methods such as x-ray procedures, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT Scan) do not reveal the full scenario that prolonged sitting or computer tasks can lead to over time. Currently he employs a mix of ART, GRAASTON, Trigger point therapy, Post fascilitation stretching techniques and modifications of yoga poses to help clients to balance their musculo-skeletal system and reduce adhesions in a myriad of fascial planes. Conditions such as Piriformis syndrome, Sacroiliac joint pain and Temporal Mandibular dysfunction can lead to a debilitating quality of life.
One of the biggest benefits his practice has in Playa resides outside his office which is the Beach.
Most rehabilitating back, knee or hip pain patients are able to get waist high in the water and water jog. Advanced complications can arise throughout the patient's body that can have increasingly complex results. The natural shelf of the Caribbean beach at Playacar and Mammitas beach is perfect for patients to get weightless in the water and slowly keep adding pressure to rebuild. Some foreigners stay long term and may end up looking at Playacar condos for sale do to the beach location. He says it may take a year for a patient who has been sedentary to rebuild and get back to a natural lifestyle or even extreme sports but it is possible.
