Rome, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/01/2012 -- The cost of a year at the average college or university has reached $35,691 based upon the results of the 22nd Annual National College Survey of 1,447 institutions. That figure is reported in America's 100 Best College Buys ® 2012-2013 just released by Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc. an independent educational research and consulting organization.
"This is the 17th year we have identified the 100 best college buys,” according to Lewis T. Lindsey, Jr. president of the consulting firm. “Ratings are based exclusively on facts and not personal opinion that can skew results. America's 100 Best College Buys ® is straight forward and understandable. All institutions, public and private, large and small, can be fairly compared on the basis of the academic profile of their most recent entering freshman class and the cost of tuition, fees, room and board.”
America's 100 Best College Buys ® includes outstanding colleges across the country offering high quality educational environments at the lowest possible cost. The survey revealed that New York offers the most qualifying institutions with nine schools meeting the requirements. A total of 38 states had at least one institution that qualified, and 33 private schools made this year’s list.
“Every student’s financial situation is evaluated individually and can result in lower actual costs at a particular institution. Never automatically eliminate a school just because of cost; it could be well worth the money. Consider cost and minimizing long term debt in selecting the best college or university that fits your specific educational objectives. America's 100 Best College Buys ® is the place to start,” according to Lindsey.
