Home furnishings in Taiwan benefited from retailers' outlet expansions over the review period. Key players in furniture and homewares stores, such as Scan-D, Uwood, Far Eastern Textile and Lung Mei Curtain, expanded aggressively in terms of outlets. In order to attract consumers and increase their shares, most retailers offered price discounts during the review period, which stimulated sales and helped spur growth. In 2012, retail sales of home furnishings grew by 3% to reach NT$101 billion.
