Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/24/2012 -- Despite criticism from experts, Drew Peterson remained consistent on his decision of calling his third wife, Kathleen Savio’s, divorce lawyer as a defense witness.
Peterson dismissed the lawyer who strongly opposed the idea of calling Savio’s divorce lawyer as a defense witness. Peterson’s decision was directed by the insistence of his lead counsel.
Peterson informed attorney Steven Greenberg about his decision. He made his decision a few days after the jurors’ statement about the divorce lawyer. Harry Smith went in the favor of the prosecution and provided enough evidence for the conviction of retired Bolingbrook Police Sergeant.
The divorce lawyer articulated that Stacy, who is the fourth wife of Peterson, asked him if she would be able to get more money in her divorce if she threatened Peterson of testifying to the police about his part in Savio’s death.
Moreover, Joel Brodsky, the lead attorney, made up his mind of calling Smith while the judge made him aware of the cost. The debate came to an end after Peterson took the side of Brodsky.
According to Chicagotribune.com, Greensberg said this Tuesday, “I think Mr. Peterson was represented by five wonderful lawyers out of six. His loyalty to the sixth is disconcerting.”
In addition, Greenberg warned Brodsky that he might open the Pandora’s Box during his loud debate in the courthouse hallway.
According to Chicagotribune.com, Greenberg said to Brodsky in a frustrated voice, “I’ve filed 74 (expletive) motions to keep him out and now you’re going to undo all of it.”
Not to mention, that tensions have continued to grow between both Greenberg and Brodsky.
“Even though Mr. Greenberg did win many of the motions, these were on small issues. Greenberg lost the big ones, such as banning the hearsay previously found to be (inadmissible), and keeping the hit man’ testimony out,” said Brodsky.
