San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/11/2012 -- Finally, the Dublin airport taxi strike that was going on for three days has ended. The negotiators weren’t able to get across their point and the taxi strikers at Dublin airport were able to force the negotiators on reopening the 70 waiting spaces that were closed by the Dublin Airport Authority for two weeks. The strikers and the Dublin Airport authorities now think that that they will have ample time to talk and find a permanent solution.

Taxis started returning to the airport right after the time when the taxi drivers union gave the green signal about the agreement reached during the negotiation process.

General Secretary of the National Irish Taxi Association, Jerry Brennan, told the Herald that, "The recommendations were read to the drivers and we have full confidence in mediator, Seamus Sweeney. This is a positive result and we have great confidence in the process.”

"There were handshakes all around at the end of the talks and we believe that this is a new beginning."

Paul O’kane, who is the director of Dublin Public Affairs, gladly said, that he was very happy to see the taxis back on work since their first priority is their passengers. He also emphasized upon that point that DAA suggested they would hold back the spaces after two weeks since they needed the area for operational basis.

O’kane also said that there was chaos at the airport during the time of strike and the Air Authority had to bring in some extra staff to control the rush and to direct the passengers to the areas where they could get transport.

One of the first passengers to avail of the restored taxi service was Australian Karlene Cass (40). "I'm just relieved to get a taxi. I didn't know there was a strike on here. I'm glad it's over." Herald.ie
