E cigarettes purchase to be banned for teens and children under a proposed bill on Beacon Hill
Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/14/2013 -- Children and teens are banned from buying e cigarettes under a bill proposed on Beacon Hill. Currently there are no child- protective lids on them. Due to lack of set of laws on e cigarettes and ongoing debate not every state has regulations on it. Still, there are 12 states which have already implemented regulations on e cigarettes.
The bill prohibits sale and use of tobacco or nicotine delivery product to minors. The bill restricts use of these products on public school grounds as well. Jeffrey Sanchez, the bill's chief sponsor state Representative says,” the goal of the legislation is to modernize Massachusetts' tobacco laws which don't take into account the rising popularity of smokeless cigarettes”.
Electric cigarettes are battery operated, smokeless device which generally contains cartridge of nicotine or e-liquid. Manufacturers and satisfied customers claim that e cigarettes offer many more advantages than the usual tobacco cigarette. Democrats at Boston feel that minors will have access to e cigarettes until there are local laws passed by cities or town banning its unrestricted sale.
The industry, however, is open to regulation. PECIA officers agree there should be approval and certification from an “independent testing body” for product safety. Experts at DigitalSmoke.org say,” the Vaping trade disapproves the use of e cigarettes amongst minors and teens. Not even the best e cigarettes are proclaimed as safe nor are they marketed as a health product by their makers but it’s certainly a better alternative to tobacco cigarette “
