Taos, NM -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2013 -- In honor of their son’s commitment to getting sober after years of substance abuse, Robb and Debb Holub opened Shadow Mountain Recovery on February 14, 2007, Joey’s sober date. With a focus on the gap between life after formal rehab treatment, but before the prior addict or alcoholic is ready to return to the life he knew before rehab, Shadow Mountain Recovery offers Extended Care Recovery, Transitional Living, Community Reintegration, and Sober Living. The added element of the outdoors allows the male residents to experience adventure and natural highs while navigating life in early recovery.

Robb and Debb candidly share their journey in the Our Story section of Shadow Mountain’s website, and they express their perspective on this milestone with the following statement:

"A mother’s love for her son and her vision of helping other families suffering from the disease of addiction shaped a program that has changed lives and healed families.

Today we have helped 125 families.

We want to express our gratitude for trusting us with your sons, committing to the process of recovery and giving Shadow Mountain a chance.

Here’s to many more years of our commitment to treating this disease one family at a time and one day at a time.

Many thanks from our family and Shadow Mountain Recovery,
Robb & Debb Holub, Founders and Owners"

As Robb and Debb mark this important Shadow Mountain anniversary and moves into their seventh year of assisting young men in early recovery, Joey Holub begins his seventh year of his life in recovery.

The lives of many young men and their families have been positively changed because of the work done at Shadow Mountain. Mike K., a Shadow Mountain Recovery (SMR) graduate in 2011 shares his experience and appreciation by saying:

"Before SMR I was not able to maintain a positive outlook on life. When things got hard in recovery or in active addiction, I would fold and try to escape. SMR is the place where I became a man. A man in the sense of finding my purpose in anything and everything that comes my way. SMR has taught me how to stay recovery-focused in all situation, from the job to the family.

I can finally enjoy life."
