Raised in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Brodrick was introduced to medical care at a young age by his father and grandfather, both established ophthalmologists. After completing his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, he attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston from 1995 to 1999. Upon his completion, Dr. Brodrick was awarded with the distinguished title of "Most Outstanding Medical Student in Ophthalmology". During and following his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, he underwent intense clinical training and performed numerous complex surgeries.

As Dr. Brodrick rose to prominence in his field, he completed a two year subspecialty of medical and surgical fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at Texas Retina Associates, in Dallas, TX. There he received advanced instruction from some of the most highly respected retinal surgeons in the world. In 2005, Dr. Brodrick went into private practice in San Antonio, where he is recognized as an expert in small gauge sutureless vitrectomy techniques. The State of Texas selected him for a Certificate of Excellence, and since 2008 he was ranked as one of the top retina specialists in "America's Top Ophthalmologist".
