Report and scientific studies regarding electronic cigarettes have become a constant matter of feud and discussions amongst health expert
Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/05/2013 -- Earlier this week a report suggested that electronic cigarettes could be carcinogenic. This report as published by a French consumer association suggests that e cigarette could even be potentially carcinogenic. The report claims that, scientists have found “carcinogenic molecules in a significant amount” in the vapor produced by e cigarettes. The report said the content of formaldehyde was as much as levels found in some conventional cigarettes.
But Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos, a cardiology researcher at university Hospital Gathuisberg in Belgium, who has been constantly studying and analyzing vapor cigarettes, differs from the report. Dr. Konstantinos says, “To be clear, this is not the first time formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein have been found in e cigarette vapor, so we already knew these were present but the order of magnitude lower than in normal cigarettes. So, I don’t know why they announced that some chemicals were found in higher quantities than in normal cigarettes”.
Experts at DigitalSmoke.org support this and say,” people are panicking over e cigarettes, however the major issue that seeks attention is tobacco use, people should worry about the nearly 400,000 young people who take up smoking every year, it’s not about persuading non smokers to buy electronic cigarette, its more about switching to a better alternative”.
One user of electronic cigarettes say,” when you talk of a product like this, it is important to make logical comparisons, as a smoker I feel e cigarette is a much better alternative to smoking but for obvious reasons those who don’t smoke won’t feel that way”. There are hundreds of electronic cigarette brands out there, with some implying self regulations. E cigarette has got the support of many industry experts and critics along with the negative criticism.
