Differ mainly in devices owned, share activities in common
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/10/2013 -- While it is certain Apple and Samsung will continue to battle it out in both the courts and the market, fans of the respective devices they create will sometimes battle just as fervently amongst themselves on internet forums. However, a new study is suggesting that those users of iPhones and Galaxy S III owners may not be much different than one another, and certainly less than many of them would like to admit.
Consumer Intelligence Research Partners has released a recent report that examines the devices usage patterns of both products and their owners. The report was based upon 1,000 users in total, with equal numbers taken from either side of the aisle. The study was handled from January through February of 2013.
In terms of usage of devices, respondents for both sides engaged in the standards of calling, texting, emailing, and general internet access along the same patterns of rate. Both the Galaxy S III and iPhone owners utilized their phones for testing and web access more than calling. Between 80% and 90% of Galaxy and iPhone users reported their utilizing their phones to send several texts per day, while nearly three-fourths of Galaxy users and 80% of iPhone users stated their phones for internet access on their devices several times a day.
Iphone owners, according to the report, are more likely to use the phones for games and photos more than once a day. Over 80% of users of the iPhone described using their product frequently for phone-games. Galaxy users game in at 70% overall.
Ownership of the devices was one area where the two sides did see significant differing. PC laptops and desktops were owned by Galaxy owners, while iPhone owners tended to have a Mac. This is not surprising as most Apple product only sync with one another unless a jailbreak product is used, which many Apple users likely are not aware of, and which also voids warranties.
In keeping with that stat, iPhone users were likely to own iPads, while Galaxy owners were likely to have a Android tablet. iPhone users also were more likely to own a Kindle than Galaxy owners.
