Garret Beeck Looks to Raise $500,000 via Indiegogo to Build The Dana Tesla Institute.
Sioux Falls, SD -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/11/2013 -- The Dana Tesla Institute was started by four college kids ranging in age from 20 to 24. They are dedicated to serving and educating those the American College System has left behind: The Individual. Their goal is to create an institute in honor of Nikola Tesla where students are free to be who they are and study what they want. There are several different ways that they plan to do things.
The Institute will be divided into three colleges within itself: the College of Sciences, the College of Arts & Humanities, and the College of Business. The Dana Tesla Institute is registered as a business in the state of South Dakota, though an exact location is still pending. DTI has also applied for tax-exempt status from the IRS, but like all Government things, it is still being processed.
Right now, Garret Beeck and his team are seeking to raise approximately $500,000 for fundraising and staffing purposes, as well as a down-payment on land. The actual cost of land, construction, faculty, accreditation, recruiting, and at least 4 operating years, is going to be close to $300 Million. They will continue fundraising until this goal is met before opening to guarantee that their students will graduate.
The Dana Tesla Institute is more than just a great idea, it is a labor of love. In July of 2013, a wonderful woman who supported the Institute from the beginning, took her own life. Garret and his team have sworn never to stop until they can dedicate a part of the Institute in her memory.
This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: November 29, 2013 - January 28, 2014 (11:59pm PT).
