Apart from test equipment vendors, two main organizations actively involved in IPv6 testing and deployment are the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) and the TAHI Project in Japan.
IPv4 and IPv6 are completely different sets of protocols. Considering the existing network infrastructure, IPv4 hosts and routers will not be able to handle IPv6 traffic. The transition from IPv4 to IPv6 will be gradual, and both protocols are expected to coexist for more than 10 years before the entire network is upgraded. During the transition period, it is important to ensure seamless communication between IPv6 nodes and IPv4 nodes.
