It turns out that antibacterial soaps may be damaging users’ skin in their quest to keep clean and healthy faces
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/29/2012 -- Recent studies have shown that ‘good’ bacteria on the skin is useful for the immune system, which combats wrinkles and saggy skin. This idea of positive bacteria is not wholly new. There are “good” bacterias within the walls of the digestive tracts as well.
Certain levels of bacteria in either case are healthy for the body, and combats problems that arise from depleted amounts of either.
The skin bacteria maintains moisture and fights off bad bacteria that can cause redness, sensitivities, and even infections. It also penetrates the skin to repair DNA and build collagen, which helps prevent wrinkles.
Companies like Aromatherapy Associates are coming out ‘pro-bacteria.’ Aromatherapy Assoc. came out with skincare products rich in probiotics. The idea is to promote good bacteria growth. The skincare brand NUDE will be re-launching anti-ageing ingredients called n-probiotic. The product is a live microorganism that is a derivative. Next month arrives Idealia from Vichy. The serum and creams contain a probiotic that derives from fermented tea.
Science Researcher and Professor Richard Tester of Glasgow Caledonia University has been conducting studies on GMH, a prebiotic derived from yams. His soon-to-be published study asserts that GMH does promote healing to prevent acne.
“Because this prebiotic can penetrate the skin surface, it also helps regenerate skin from within, rebuilding collagen, reducing wrinkles and bringing back its natural glow,” Tester says.
This new information does not remove the importance of facial cleanliness, however. Along with good bacteria is also a plethora of bad bacteria. This bad bacteria can cause the skin to become irritated and creates free radicals, causing wrinkles and sagging.
