Havana Life, a unique insight into one of the most intriguing cities in the world
Manchester, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/10/2014 -- Through its stunning photography, stories and facts this book captures perfectly the mysteries surrounding a city that for so long has been a destination people are drawn to. What is most unusual is, if you ask them, why? Now you can find out for yourself.
Whether you plan to visit Havana or not this book will take you on a journey like no other. It will not only leave you hungry for more, but leave you with the feeling you were once there. It is not a travel guide but a travel companion. Arguably the most insightful source of knowledge, on the place described by the author Nad Yaqub, as the “Jewel of the Caribbean”
About Me – Nad Yaqub
My journey thus far began with the Iconic Manchester Collection of pictures, some of which can be found hanging at Manchester Piccadilly station.
Concentrating all of my efforts into my passion for urban/street photography, I came across people photography more by chance rather than design. It was difficult to adapt, but once I started it was much easier, as people can move and respond, unlike buildings and sets. Lights can also be controlled, meaning you are only held back by your own creativity.
More than anything I love to combine the two, and this started with my interpretation of a David Bailey photo-shoot of the English model Jean Shrimpton in New York.
However, it was a trip to Havana that gave me the perfect platform to express myself. It gave me people, culture, architecture and intrigue, a unique learning experience in a unique environment.
Engrossed in my stories of Havana people always craved for more. I was also surprised at people's lack of knowledge, especially those that had visited before. Having the perfect recipe to bring all the things I’m passionate about together Havana Life is born.
I booked a trip to Venice to work on the style of photography I would eventually use in the book. The book combines these pictures with interesting and useful facts, peoples stories and my own experiences. I have been back to Havana many times as it wasn’t just Havana I fell in love with.
