“Healthy drinks” increases as a popular Google search trend in 2012
Chicago, IL -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/17/2013 -- Author and freelance writer George Napoli took that search information, as well as the research conducted with hundred of Dieticians , Nutritionists and Educators at an American Dieticians Association three day annual conference, where he discussed the universal problems facing their health conscious, weight loss and diabetic patients. Three main areas that were the focus of this research included problems with today’s high caloric beverages, the lack of healthy beverage alternatives the key role of natural and artificial sweeteners. These issues were used to create his new book:“Healthy Drinks Guide 2013.” He said the book leads people to a greater understanding of what they drink and how it affects their health.
“The average person drinks over 13,500 calories a month and that’s about 450 calories a day. That means 30 pounds of additional weight each year from high-calorie beverages,” he said. “That’s not healthy or necessary.”
His book is in three sections. Part one discusses today’s beverage problems and the typical ingredients used when formulating drinks. Some of the ingredients will surprise you, Mr. Napoli said. He’s often asked what people should consider when buying drinks.
One simple solution is to read the label. As he writes in his book: “If you can’t pronounce it, don’t buy it. That covers a wide spectrum of ingredients. The primary one refers to the “oses” phenomenon: sugars. This is actually how the beverage is sweetened. Sugar consumption is the quickest way to type 2 diabetes.” The other ingredient to watch out for is food coloring dyes. The verdict is in on colorful drinks and it is not good when it comes to your health.
Part II takes a look at the industries healthy beverages. This does, of course, include drinking plain tap water. Water is necessary to healthy life as all people know, Mr. Napoli said, but there are other benefits to drinking water, versus consuming sugary caffeinated drinks and juices that people need to know about.
Mr. Napoli also looks at the emerging beverage market called “weight loss waters” and another called “breakthrough beverages.” These beverages contain supplements which help people in different ways. For example: to shed excess pounds.
Part III is the zero-sugar, zero-carb flavor additives for water and other foods and beverages. “This is a fast growing category and quickly becoming a major niche market. But not all flavor additives are created equal. In my book, I even tell you about alcohol flavoring substitutes that let you make your own flavorful alcohol-free cocktails, with the flavor turned way up,” he said.
The book is available on the Kindle platform for $3.99, or may be purchased at http://www.healthydrinksguide.net. Mr. Napoli includes a 30-day money back guarantee.
