Hochman & Goldin Discuss Florida's New License Overhaul

South Florida law firm Hochman & Goldin, P.A. would like to make drivers aware that beginning this month, Florida driver licenses and IDs will have an all-new design.

Miami, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2017 -- The new license and ID design is largely intended to boost security. However, there are also significant cosmetic changes in store to differentiate them from the current design. For starters, the front of the license/ID will prominently feature the state seal using a pastel hue and the letters FL over a base that's plain white. The back features a picture of Florida, ocean waves, as well as the year 1845 to mark the year in which Florida became a part of the union as the 27th state. Besides the standard portrait on the front with a transparent background, the portrait will appear three additional times in different spots.

Aside from the cosmetic changes, the new design includes additional features to fight fraud, such as ultraviolet (UV) ink. Current drivers can keep their existing license with the old design unless they need to renew or have to make a change to their name and address. The new licenses are expected to be available across the state by the end of 2017.
