AMD - From x86 Architecture to Gaming Consoles
Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2013 -- AMD has been in a transformation phase over the last 18 months. They would be having 20% of their business outside of the traditional PC market. Transition has begun with Rory Read & Lisa Su joining as CEO & Senior Vice President respectively. With AMD being traditionally strong, it would be interesting to see what they can bring to this generation of Gaming consoles. AMD can bring the highest performance graphics with the CPU capabilities. AMD has to offer something unique to be able to compete with market leaders like Microsoft & Sony.
During the Citi 2013 Global Technology Conference, Lisa stated that there are growth opportunities in embedded markets. Lisa Su also states during the conference that “AMD is not focused on the smartphone market, so that’s the market that we have not chosen to get into, it's a fairly crowded market at this point in time.”
So that rules out the rumours of AMD buying BlackBerry. Lisa also comments about sweet spot of PC pricing, Microsoft’s 10-inch tablet & more. Since Game Console is a very good market driven by technology, it's an exciting times for Gamers out there!
