Larger processor and battery for the One X+
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/09/2012 -- A new and faster quad-core processor has been added to the HTC One X model smartphone. The upgrade has twice the storage capacity, larger battery and LTE in the US.
The upped model is named the HTC OneX+, and HTC is betting that it can compete with the previously superior Samsung and Apple processors. Like many vendors in the market, HTC has had trouble keeping their phones up-to-date with the industry leaders, and are struggling to keep their numbers formidable
A 1.7GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 AP37 processor is equipped in the new model. 64GB integrated storage was also added on.
Not surprisingly, the upgrades will improve the performance and capabilities of the phone. Smoother gaming and quicker downloads can be expected, according to HTC.
The 4.7 inch screen and 1280-by-720-pixel resolution remains the same; however, the screen in now protected by Gorilla Glass 2. The unit is 5 grams heavier despite remaining the same size.
Within the US, AT&T will have exclusive access to the LTE version, while 3G is the only available option in Europe. LTE has picked up in most of Europe and certain models do carry it in specific countries.
The One X+ will utilize the Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”, which is available for the One X and One S as well.
