Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) stock declined 1.16% to $115.15 in the pre-market hour trading. A state agency issued a nearly $1 million fine against Chevron last week in response to the Richmond refinery fire that occurred last August. The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health issued 25 citations against Chevron, with penalties amounting to $963,200. The fines levied against Chevron are the highest allowed by the state.

Acme Packet, Inc. (NASDAQ:APKT) shares climbed 21.90% to $29.17 in the pre-market hour after Oracle Corp today said it has agreed to buy Acme Packet Inc for about $2 billion. The $29.25 per share offer represents a 22 percent premium to Acme Packet's Friday close on the Nasdaq. The deal value is based on the number of outstanding shares as of Dec 31.

Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM) reported lower fourth-quarter earnings that still exceeded analysts' expectations as the company kept control of rising costs. The company said that net income had fallen to $192 million, or $1.19 a share, from $199 million, or $1.20 per share, a year earlier. Analysts on average had expected earnings of $1.06 per share. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 6% to $9.56 billion from $9.06 billion, missing the analysts' average estimate of $9.73 billion.
