West Bloomfield, MI -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/22/2013 -- Throughout Karin's life it would be impossible not to notice her beautiful smile along with her passion for telling a sweet story. It is no coincidence that young children are drawn to her every word as she reads and shares her two books, “One Ten and Over Again,” and “There’s a Fly in My Soup.”

Local author, Karin Jill Katz, is filled with genuine excitement as she creates her children’s books. Katz has one goal; to create simple stories that nurture the soul of a child, while teaching life’s lessons and core values to one another. “I want my children to have good manners and show compassion and care for those around them,” said Katz. Not only an author, this mother of three is raising her own children to model kindness and empathy, lessons taught to her as a child being raised by a devoted mother and a father who is a Holocaust survivor.

Wanting to share her morals, of integrity, decency and tolerance to children of all ages, Katz, has published her first two children’s book, “One Ten and Over Again,” and “There’s a Fly in My Soup.” She enjoys being in the classroom and libraries reading to them. “Today, everyone is moving at such a fast pace and downloading anything and everything electronically, I like to sit and read to the kids,” said Katz having just visited dozens of elementary schools in Oakland County. “I grew up with books surrounding me, allowing me to learn from the pages. It allowed me to use my imagination. That is what I want to share with these kids.”

Karin Jill Katz is available for personal appearances and interviews

“There’s a Fly in My Soup,” tells the story of a hungry fly who eats and plays on a little girl’s food without permission. As anger and exasperation brew in her, she never swats him or uses physical harm. This lends itself to the “no more bullying” policy that is growing worldwide and demonstrates tolerance. Eventually the fly apologizes, and they become friends illustrating forgiveness. There’s a fly in my soup is short rhyming story that teaches tolerance, manners and respect. It depicts these virtues in an age appropriate way by using restraint and forgiveness that eventually lead to friendship.

“One Ten and Over Again,” This educational and endearing book focuses on counting and will advance the learning process for a child though imagery, and repetition while strengthening visualization though entertaining narration.
