New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/05/2012 -- Absinthe 2.0 and Redsn0w 0.9.12b15.1.1 for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak of iPhone 4s / 4 / 3Gs, iPad 3, iPad 2 / 1, and other devices has finally been released, thanks to @pod2g and the Dev-Team for their great work. It has been only a couple of weeks since 5.1.1 was released by Apple to patch previous vulnerabilities, but the Dev-Team hackers have a habit of living up to the expectations of the jailbreak community. They have come up once again with an untethered jailbreak for all current iOS devices except for ATV3. Absinthe 2.0 has been updated three times since its release and the latest version is Absinthe 2.0.4. Absinthe 2.0.4 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak supports iPad 3, 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, iPhone 4s 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, iPad 2 5.1.1 jailbreak, iPad 5.1.1 jailbreak and iPhone 4 5.1.1 jailbreak.
Absinthe 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, and 2.0.4 are the tools that can be utilized for this jailbreak. Dev-Team has updated their blog just a couple minutes ago. So hang in there for a moment while we bring you a step by step tutorial on how to jailbreak your device. Till then, you can download the following tools and get ready. If you haven't updated your device to iOS 5.1.1, now is the time to do that. If you want to preserve your baseband for carrier unlock on iPhones, do not update to 5.1.1 until a custom IPSW is available using Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5.
Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak on A4 devices with added features has been updated alongwith PwnageTool 5.1.1 for custom IPSW files with baseband preservation. If you have already successfully jailbroken your devices using last week’s Absinthe 2.0.x tool, don’t bother doing anything. Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 and Cinject 0.5.4 does the same thing as Absinthe, only difference is the injection method.
One added feature of Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 is that it now has an added support for SAM based unlocked devices. If you recently unlocked your device using SAM method, you can now save your unlock ticket plist file (individual or zip) using Redsn0w and then upgrade to 5.1.1.
Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 unlock for iPhone 4/3gs has also been updated in Cydia but for only those who already are on software unlockable basebands. People who are on software unlock on A4 devices like iPhone 4 and 3Gs, should use a custom IPSW file made by PwnageTool 5.1.1 or Sn0wbreeze 2.9.5 to update to 5.1.1, and then use Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 to unlock iPhone 4/ 3Gs.
