iPhone 5 Launch: What Will the New iPhone Bring

Repost This

Hartford, CT -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/11/2012 -- The iPhone 5 launch, scheduled on September 12, is being touted as the biggest launch in the history of Apple. It has to be so: after all, between the iPhone 4 and the impending iPhone 5 launch, the competitors have gained a lot of ground. There are phones with bigger screen size, better features and more powerful hardware now. For Apple, it's an important launch, too.

When the iPhone 4 was launched, along with the iOS 4, there was a lot to talk about. The earlier models had left a lot to be desired and there was a lot of room for improvement as far as the core features are concerned, not just the hardware. The iOS 6 has already been demoed at the WWDC and thus, the primary attraction of the September 12 launch will be the hardware upgrades. That is unless Apple decides to play otherwise. Given their history, I wouldn’t bet against that.

Tech blogs that are covering the iPhone 5 launch have started speculating already; with a few leaked models of the phone that appear genuine. There are some features that are almost a certainty. Some of them, for instance, are:

A bigger and better screen: There are many other phones on the market that have a screen bigger than the 3.5’’ that the iPhone has and Apple is all set to release the iPhone 5 with a screen measuring 4’’ diagonally. Though that still isn’t as big—to be honest, I prefer that size a phone—it will be certainly be a great addition to their existing model.

With the bigger screen come more pixels. The current iPhone, with the retina display, has a resolution of 960 by 640 which is great for a phone but the new avatar is set to get higher resolution.

Powerful hardware: This is one area where other phones have gained significant ground. The iPhone 5 is expected to get a major hardware boost. It might include bigger memory (1 GB RAM), better processor (A6 chip, maybe?) and overall, a major hardware overhaul.

It is almost necessary too given that the competition has already marched ahead. Better hardware will translate into better performance in all areas. The gaming experience, for instance, can be improved a lot.

There are a lot of other rumors doing the rounds however nothing is official as of yet. We will know for sure on September 12. Till then, let’s wait.
