Keith Springer: Springer Turkey Challenge Continues to Support Local Families

Newport Beach, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/15/2012 -- There is no better feeling than helping those in need. That's why Keith Springer takes great pride in his annual Springer Turkey Challenge. Their purpose is to raise money to help feed hungry families in the Sacramento region during the holiday season. It is Keith Springer’s belief that no child should ever go hungry, especially during the holidays.

As that time of year approaches, they total up all of the donations they've received throughout the year and match them dollar for dollar. Even $15 to buy a turkey can make a difference to a family in need.

It's such a simple way to give back, and Keith Springer is pleased to say the Springer Turkey Challenge has been feeding thousands of people every year since it began in 1999. This could not be done without the support of his clients, friends and family. Keith Springer would like to say a special "thank you" to all of those joining him in making this a successful commitment to eliminating hunger in his local neighborhoods. They hope the Springer Turkey Challenge will continue to aid those in need for many years to come.

Recap of the last Springer Turkey Challenge:

Last year was another great year for the 2011 Springer Turkey Challenge to help feed those most in need in the holiday season. They were able to collect $2,270, which gave a total of $4,540 after Keith Springer’s match. This allowed them to feed over 10,000 people during the holiday season. What a thrill! Proceeds went to the River Oak Center for Children, Sacramento Food Bank, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Stanford Settlement.

Most of the contributions come in as Thanksgiving approaches. The number of people in need is astounding and no child should ever go hungry, especially during the holidays. As we get close to Thanksgiving, Keith presents the money to feed the families most in need in his community. Of course there are contributions that come in after Thanksgiving and throughout the year, which he still matches with the money given to local charities for Christmas and or other holidays.

Keith Springer originally started doing this in 1999 as a way of giving back to the community with something that really makes a difference. In the beginning, he would actually go to the supermarket and negotiate the price of turkeys, pay for them, then help the food bank load them into their pick-ups for distribution. As the Springer Turkey Challenge grew, he began donating the money rather than turkeys. This way they could also provide other necessary items to round out the meal. This is one of the things Keith Springer truly looks forward to the most each year, something where he can actually make a difference to the world by helping out. This year they will be feeding over 10,000 people who would have otherwise gone without during the holidays.
