Singer talks about creating “slutty” scent
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/28/2012 -- Singer-songwriter Lady Gaga says her new fragrance was crafted to seduce lovers, calling it a “very slutty perfume.”
She wanted the eau de parfum to be enticing “because that is sort of the addictive nature of fame that it is, it is seductive,” Lady Gaga told Good Morning America’s Lara Spencer.
The perfume, Lady Gaga Fame, is a black liquid that sprays on clear. The award-winning singer’s first album was called “The Fame.” The scent’s ingredients include belladonna, apricot and honey.
“I love the belladonna smell because it has a dangerous sort of muskiness to it. It’s a plant that can kill you but also smells quite delicious,” Lady Gaga told Good Morning America.
“I also really love the honey drops,” she said. Adding, “These are just things that I really like to eat also. They’re things that I would eat during sex as well as wear.”
An June advertising campaign featured posters wherein Lady Gaga appears nearly naked save for a black mask and small figures of crawling men placed strategically on her body.
She has said that she felt let down by other celebrity perfumes, and that led her to work hard to create her own.
“I have always felt disappointed by celebrity fragrances because they seem to ride on the air of amateur or cheap, like the fans don’t deserve the same as someone buying a fragrance at Chanel,” the singer said.
Her Lady Gaga Fame is made by Coty, and she is proud of how it turned out.
“It’s a sexy fragrance. It’s for someone that wants to seduce someone,” she said. “You shouldn’t wear it if you’re not likely to look for a lover, because it’s going to attract them.”
Lady Gaga earlier described the fragrance as smelling “like an expensive hooker.” She said on “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” in Australia last year that it would have hints of “blood and semen.”
