Question now is, would it bring more convenience to users?
San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/11/2012 -- The traditional office landline phones are expected be replaced by the smart phones in less than five years. By the end of 2017, smart phones will become the main tool for business communication
According to the poll of CIOs conducted by Virgin Media Business, which assists the Computing surveys directing the augmented increase towards Bringing Your Own Device (BYOD) in the office. The study also tells us that the increased amount of firms is also encouraging the use of smart phones.
The research conducted by Computing indicates that 84 per cent of the smart phone owners use their smart phones for the work related activities. These activities not just include making the calls, but also sending emails and transferring documents within and outside the network.
No doubt that the landline office phone has its benefits and are still considered a necessary tool but nowadays, 71 per cent of the firms are providing smart phones to their staff.
A huge amount of expenditure is required for the purchasing of these phones and paying the bills at the end of the month. In contrast, paying the line rent for the landline phone that is not used throughout the month is considered a waste of expenses nowadays.
COO of the Virgin Media Business, Tony Grace told computing.co.uk, “Mobile connections to the internet are getting better by the day.”
“Almost everywhere we go we’re able to check-in at the office, social networking sites, or simply contact friends and family. Because of this, businesses have recognised the importance of the mini computers that smartphones have essentially become. This is leading us to rely increasingly on our smartphones and less on our landlines,” he added.
The survey also unveiled that 63 per cent of the CIOs think that PCs will be the second most traditional office tool that would be replaced from the workplace.
