On August 15, 2019, at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center located at 97 Sunfield Ave. in Edison, N.J., Bodnar's Auction will present an extensive collection of Lionel Trains, which have achieved iconic status in the world of model trains since they debuted in 1900 in New York City. Avid collectors are expected to clamor for these classic train sets, which have been known to fetch thousands of dollars at auction.
Also featured at the August sale will be exquisite pieces of pottery and glasswork produced by local New Jersey artists, including Fulper pottery made in Flemington, N.J., beginning in the late 19th century, and vintage art glass from Flemington's own Vandermark Merritt Glass Studios.
Although Vandermark Merritt Studios closed its doors in 2016 after decades of creating gorgeous, one-of-a-kind blown glass pieces, co-creators Jerry Vandermark and Douglas Merritt left a lasting legacy on the local art world. Fulper Pottery is best known for pioneering glazed, solid-color ceramic dinnerware back in the early 1900s.
Additionally, mid-20th Century furniture, in a style made famous on the classic "Brady Bunch" television show, will be on display and available to bidders at the sale. Collectors from the Baby Boomer generation and beyond are sure to be delighted by these rare vintage items.
