Bastic reported that “ISG worked hand-in-glove with our parent company, Speedrack Products Group, on a unique rack design that would provide long term strength and impact resistance. While protecting the racking we also are protecting the Hy-Vee grocery products in the racks as compared to occasionally used offset rack frames, which keep the rack frame away from the aisle but expose the product in the rack to potential impact and damage. ISG/Speedrack’s design protects both the product and the racking for a lower cost per frames than off set type upright frames. The rack frames were designed to be 44? deep vs. more conventional 42? to better protect the in-rack product and keep very narrow aisles to a minimum.”

The most common areas of quality failure in a distribution center and manufacturing material handling process are related to communication, documentation and budget. Manufacturing journalist TR Cutler recently profiled the extraordinary accomplishments of Integrated Systems Group in the July issue of Business Excellence magazine. Integrated Systems Group (ISG) utilizes a documented process and according to Engineering Manager, Joel Bos, “It is imperative that the software requirement, as well as the deliverable, be documented thoroughly. This insures that the customer’s wants versus needs are identified and expectations met. The result is a clear picture for both parties to understand. It takes due diligence during the design cycle to ensure that all of the needs are documented upfront and a future growth plan is in place. If shortcuts are made quality problems will ensue.”
