Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/24/2016 -- According to reports, Sony would release a standard but slimmed down PS4, and so-called "updated, high-end as well as slimmed-down version of PS4" before the end of 2016, which is officially named Project Neo. As the main rival to Sony's PlayStation Neo, Microsoft's Xbox Project Scorpio has been long and hot anticipated. The reports have always been reporting that the Xbox Project Scorpio would bring true 4K gaming experience. Now, Microsoft's official has officially confirmed this, and hinted that the Xbox Project Scorpio would be a "high-end product", which suggests the price would be higher.

4K has been a hot topic nowadays. It brings much better movie and gaming experience for daily entertainment. With 4K media player, people could freely view 4K movies at home. Now the 4K experience has been spreading to gaming industry. Sony's next PS4 console, the PlayStation Neo, has been confirmed to support both upscaling current PS4 titles to 4K, as well supporting games with improved visual fidelity, a huge benefit for the upcoming Playstation VR headset. To compete with Sony PlayStation Neo, the Xbox Project Scorpio must support 4K movie viewing and 4K gaming. Now, this has been proved by Aaron Greenberg, head of Xbox Game Marketing.

Ever since Project Scorpio was announced at E3 2016, the talks of the console being able to offer true 4K gaming has been high and wide. Many believed that six teraflops of overall GPU power isn't enough due to the amount of power required for PC games. However, according to DualShockers interview, Greenberg has confirmed that the Xbox Project Scorpio can bring true 4K gaming to the console audience. He mention in the interview that Project Scorpio has already found its way to PC to upscale favorite titles at 4K resolutions at big cost.

"It is going to be a very high-end product," according to Greenberg in the interview. "We're not talking at all about any more details about that, but what I can tell you is that what's exciting for me is that the fact that we can tell people now 'we're gonna bring a whole new console, with a whole new set of capabilities' and be able to innovate with the hardware without sacrificing compatibility, is something that really hasn't been done before in the console space."

During the interview, Greenberg mentioned that several developers have been already working on 4K games for the PC to likely transfer over well to Project Scorpio. The games include Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 and Halo Wars 2. By the day Project Scorpio is out, these games would be ready for playing at true 4K gaming experience.

During the interview, Greenberg also hinted that the price of Xbox Project Scorpio would be higher. Greenberg said that the new Xbox Project Scorpio would be a "high-end product" that requires games to "spend a lot of cash to play their favorite titles at 4K resolutions".
