Right after the release, Microsoft has started a service to release its first-party games on Windows 10 PC alongside Xbox. Some diehard Xbox console gamers saw this new service as an end to Xbox exclusives, which could mean the company is giving up on the platform. Now, there comes the answer: Microsoft official publicly announced it's not true by stating that the service is made just because of people's gaming changes.

As one of the most popular gaming consoles, Xbox is the major console product that could compete with Sony's PlayStation console. In the newly released Xbox One S, some new and popular features have been successfully added. People could not only play games with Xbox, but also play 4K Blu-ray on Xbox One S to get more vivid movie experience at home. Xbox has been a multimedia suite product, rather than a simple game console.

In June's E3 conference, Microsoft officially introduced Xbox Play Anywhere. This new services provides people with 2 copies of games to purchase on either Xbox One or Windows 10. This applies to first-party titles and some third-party ones as well. As the name suggests, Xbox Play Anywhere is a service that lets people to play Xbox games with devices more than Xbox, like smartphones and tablets. This means Xbox games have been spread to more devices.

Based on this, some diehard Xbox console fans talked about this may be the end of Xbox console exclusive and worried that Microsoft might plan giving up on this platform. To comfort these Xbox fans, on the Inner Circle podcast, Albert Penello, Microsoft executive, said it's not true, and proved that this new service is to meet people's gaming changes, rather than to giving up this platform.

"Even guys that are diehard console gamers, we know they play on their phone and PC," said Albert Penello on the podcast. "So to me, the idea that you're bringing games to the PC suddenly means that people don't want consoles anymore… it doesn't ring true to how gamers really behave," added the executive.

Penello said that nowadays people's gaming habit has changed a lot. People no longer get restricted on consoles like Xbox and PlayStation, but everything that could act as console, like smartphones, tablets, and PC as well. People now have more choices for playing games, like laying back in front of big TV with console, sitting before PC to get PC gaming experience, etc. All these have led Xbox games to Windows 10 PC for better gaming experience to people.

Actually, currently there are only a few Xbox games released onto Windows PC, like Quantum Break and Killer Instinct. Releasing Xbox games to Windows PC is in fact not the end of Xbox platform, but the start point for more people to play Xbox games and more Xbox gaming ways.
